NYSE Appoints Kurt Stocker to New Board of Executives
Dec 18, 2003
Kurt Stocker has been appointed to serve on the New York Stock Exchange Board of Executives, an advisory panel that is representative of NYSE constituents. The newly appointed panel is the latest in a series of steps that are being taken to change the governance structure of the Exchange.
In announcing the appointments of 19 of the 22 individuals who will be on the new Board, Interim Chairman John S. Reed said, "The Board of Executives will play a crucial role in reshaping the New York Stock Exchange. We have recruited a group of individuals who know the Exchange and its issues, as well as the interests of those they represent. They will provide our independent Board of Directors and management with essential public and industry perspective."
Stocker, who also serves as the chair of the NYSE Individual Investors Advisory Committee, will be one of four individuals representing investors on the Board of Executives.
Stocker, who was the Society's president in 1995 and 1996 and currently serves on its Board of Trustees, was instrumental in arranging the highly successful series of regional meetings earlier in the year that briefed Page members on the new corporate governance rules that were imposed following the corporate scandals. Jointly sponsored by the Page Society and the National Investor Relations Institute, the meetings in San Francisco, Chicago and New York drew more than 200 participants.
