2003 Annual Conference “Truth… or Consequences?”

Aug 04, 2003

Is it a company's obligation to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Do you dare in this day and age to do otherwise? What role does the board of directors play in keeping a corporation and its leadership on the high road? Can we overlay the simplicity of what's right and what's wrong on the complexity and the nuances of daily business decisions?

We face choices almost every day in the workplace about what to say and when to say it. It is never simple. It has become all too clear recently that although almost every company talks the talk, to get them to walk the walk is quite another issue. At this year's annual conference, the Arthur W. Page Society will explore telling the truth as well as what may happen if you dare not to do so -- from a number of perspectives.

This is the Page Society's 20th annual conference and is scheduled to take place September 14-16, 2003 at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort on Coronado Island, San Diego, California.

The Page Society, a select membership organization for senior corporate communications and public relations executives, will host a group of thought leaders and business executives, including, among others, Bertrand Piccard, an adventurer who successfully circumnavigated the globe in a hot-air balloon, Ted Waitt, CEO of Gateway, Linda Chavez, president of the Center for Equal Opportunity and Rich and Dick DeVos, successive CEOs of Alticor.

Other presenters at the three-day conference will include Baroness Chalker of Wallasey, advisory director, Unilever, Reuters communication director Simon Walker and Kirk O. Hanson, executive director, Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, Santa Clara University, among others.
