Marilyn Laurie Elected To Page Society Hall of Fame

The former head of public relations at AT&T, Marilyn Laurie, will be inducted into the Arthur W. Page Society Hall of Fame.
As the 18th member of the Hall of Fame, which honors leading public relations practitioners for career achievement and outstanding contributions to the profession, Laurie will be recognized at the Page Society's Annual Conference, being held September 22-24, 2002 at The Sagamore in Bolton Landing, NY.
Laurie has the distinction of being the highest-ranking woman in the history of AT&T. As executive vice president brand strategy and a member of AT&T's 10-person Executive Committee, she was responsible for leading AT&T's brand-building activities worldwide. Prior to that, she was senior vice president of public relations at AT&T, heading a 500-person communications organization. In addition, Laurie served as chairman of the AT&T Foundation, directing a billion dollars in grants and volunteer time to educational, arts and community organizations in the U.S. and abroad.
Since retiring from AT&T, Laurie, who lives in New York City, has been president of Laurie Consulting, Inc., developing branding and public relations strategies for corporations and non-profit organizations.
Laurie is a past president of the Page Society and also served as chairman of the Public Relations Seminar. She is a trustee of Columbia University and a director of the New York City Ballet and New Visions for New York's Public Schools. She has also served on the executive committee of the New York City Partnership.
Laurie, the first woman to be inducted into the Page Society Hall of Fame, will join a distinguished list of public relations professionals that includes Scott Cutlip, Harold Burson, Chester Burger, Edward Block, Larry Foster, Jack Koten, Dan Edelman, Dick Mau, John Graham and last year's inductee, Kurt Stocker.
