Page Society’s white paper is a ‘guilt gift’

Alan Kelly presents his opinion on Arthur W. Page Society's recent white paper on Trust. Kelly states that he is opposed to the underlying assumption of the white paper and that "[the white paper] does not represent me. It is, in fact, a well-wrapped guilt gift to our industry." Kelly says that PR's ability to "move markets and influence behavior" is what the industry is built to do. Although Kelly says he does not find anything wrong with the publication in and of itself, he states that the paper is, ironically, being "championed by the very class of professionals whose strategies were ground-zero in the economic run-up and its associated excesses."
