PR Week Senior Reporter Tonya Garcia speaks with Edward Freeman, academic director at the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics, and Roger Bolton, past president of the Arthur W. Page Society and senior counselor, APCO Worldwide, about their role in the Trust Report. The interview focuses on how organizations should achieve transparency objectives. Freeman explains that companies should "get rid of the assumption that everything is not in the open," thereby forcing themselves to be honest in their dealings. Bolton comments, "most businesses still have an instinct to build walls when they are confronted with issues of transparency" and if companies can learn to be more open and share non-proprietary information, then that would be a way of building trust.
