Greg Elliott serves as vice president, Corporate Human Resources, Communications and Administration, at International Truck and Engine Corporation, the operating company of Warrenville, Ill.- based Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV), one of the world's largest truck and engine manufacturers. Elliott was named to this position in August 2004 after serving five year as Vice President, Corporate Communications. Elliott joined the company in August 1999 as vice president, Communications Strategy.
Elliott provides executive counsel and is responsible for the Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, Compensation, Organizational Capabilities and Human Resources for the Corporate Headquarters in Warrenville, Ill. He also oversees issue and crisis management, and plays a key role in supporting the company's cultural initiatives. The company employs 14,500 people worldwide.
Along with diverse experience in corporate and brand image, product launches and crisis communications, Elliott also has extensive experience in the transportation industry. Prior to joining the company, he was director of Executive Communications at General Motors Corporation, where he served as a communications counselor to GM chairman Jack Smith and members of his executive team. While at GM, he was responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies for the company's senior management, including financial communications and internal and external corporate communications.
Prior to joining GM, Elliott was director of Corporate Communications for Nissan North America, Inc., where he worked on CEO positioning, trade issues, product awareness and dealer activities. While there, he developed strategies to support Nissan's corporate reputation programs, including Nissan's "Investing in America" program. He joined Nissan from Toyota Motor Sales, USA where he developed programs to support the launch of key products.
Elliott earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from California State University, Long Beach, and an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago. He lives in Naperville, Ill., with his wife and three children.
