Larry Parnell is an Associate Professor and Program Director at the George Washington University with responsibility for the Master's in Strategic Public Relations (SPR) program. The 10 year old SPR program operates both an online and a campus-based evening program. To date, the program has over 300 alumni who are actively engaged in meaningful and rewarding careers in government service, agency/consulting, corporate communications and association and non-profit communications

In addition, Larry operates a boutique consulting firm (Parnell Communications - www.parnellcommunications.com) that utilizes his 35 years of consulting and PR experience to provide counsel to its governmental and corporate clients.

Prior to GW, Larry worked at several of the major PR agencies and held senior positions at Barrick Gold; Ernst & Young and People's Bank of Connecticut (now People's United.)

Larry holds a MBA from the University of New Haven; and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Boston University. Larry is a frequent speaker and author on communications and politics and offers executive training in media and presentation skills. He is the co-author of a forthcoming public relations textbook "Introduction to Strategic Public Relations: Communicating Effectively in a Socially Responsible World", which is due out from Sage Publishing in 2018.

He was named PR Professional of the Year (2003) by PR Week and is in the PR News Hall of Fame (2009.) The GW SPR program was named Best PR Education Program in 2015 by PR Week.
