Paradox and Principles: A Provocative Conversation about the Real Challenges Facing CCOs Today
Prepare to be surprised in this no-holds-barred session. You and your peers will engage in candid conversations about some of the most controversial choices you face as CCOs in a changed world. In the shadow of the U.S. Capitol–where democracy and debate are the order of the day–this session is designed to push past the platitudes, focus on what you care about, challenge your assumptions, and generate honest–and perhaps even heated — discussions. The session will start by examining a case that was a finalist in the Arthur W. Page Society Case Study Competition: “Obliged: Goldman Sachs vs. the SEC.” The conversation around this controversial scenario will tap the collective, pragmatic wisdom of some of the brightest minds in the communications profession–the minds of your Page Society peers. As you explore the case with your colleagues, you’ll benefit from the external perspective of four prominent subject matter experts who will provide a “reality check” on the group’s strategic recommendations.Panel Experts

Who Invited Marketing to the Communications Party?
Communications and marketing have collaborated and competed through many business cycles and trends over time. But the advent of social media, the growing power of corporate reputation, and the pace of change today have all pushed the two disciplines together in new, and sometimes conflicting, ways. This panel features leaders from across the marketing and communications spectrum, offering their views on difficulties and opportunities in this environment. The speakers will tackle such questions as: What is the right relationship between marketing and communications? In a situation where a company or a brand is seeking high integration of the marketing mix, what is the optimal fit between the two disciplines? And how are executives from both sides working as business consultants and catalysts for strategic thinking and change?Moderator
